Sustainability event scheduled for Himmel Library on Saturday

On Saturday, you’ll not only be able to check out books from the library, but you can also check out people.

Interested in backyard gardening and composting? Check out Lindianne Sarno from Sonoran Kitchen Gardens.

Hungry to know more about local food choices? Sign up for a talk by Varga Garland of the Community Food Bank.

“Books” will be due in 30 minutes. No cost.

The “living library” will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Himmel Park Branch Library, 1035 N. Treat Ave.

It’s organized by the Tucson’s Office of Conservation and Sustainable Development and has a sustainability theme.

Subjects in the catalog include rainwater harvesting, healthy eating choices, gray water, solar energy, bicycle basics and native landscaping.

The event is intended to be the first in a series at libraries around Tucson.

For a full list of “books” and subjects, go to the office’s Web site, www. tucsonaz.gov/ocsd.

To reserve a spot, call 594-5305 or visit Himmel Park Branch Library.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
