Animal shelter holding feline photo contest

If your kitty is sitting pretty you may want to enter your fine feline in the 2009 Feline Photo Contest.

Held by HOPE Animal Shelter, the contest has two categories: Funniest Feline or Fairest Feline Beauty, according to a news release from the shelter.

Folks can enter as many photos as they wish, with a $10 entry fee per photo. The deadline has been extended to April 30, with winners announced by May 11.

Winners in each category will receive an oil portrait of their cat, with runners-up eligible for a $100 gift certificate to the Diana Madaras Gallery or a photo of their cat taken by a professional photographer.

Entries can be mailed to HOPE Animal Shelter, 2011 E. 12th St., Tucson, AZ 85719. Photos should be no larger than 5-by-7 inches and should be marked “photo – do not bend.”

Entries should include the entrant’s name, address and phone number, the cat’s name and why the cat is special.

All proceeds benefit HOPE, Tucson’s only no-kill dog and cat shelter.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
