Ask Boomer: Talk to teacher about school problems

Dear Boomer, I’m having problems at school. What should I do?

Dear J.M.,I’m glad that you’re willing to share your problems. Maybe you can start with your teacher. Find a break time or a moment before or after school when you can get some advice and maybe even a few special assignments to help you get caught up. Like most kids, there are a couple of subjects that I struggle with, too. At home, don’t hesitate to ask your parents to help you understand your work. Getting your schoolwork is going to take some time, so don’t give up!

Dear Boomer, I heard that polar bears are becoming very endangered. What can I do about it? (I want to) help!

P.S. What do you like most about your life?

Dear E.A., Thanks for caring! Biologists are very concerned about global warming and its effects up north where polar bears live. Sea ice is an important part of polar bear habitat. But as temperatures warm, the sea ice thins and breaks up earlier in the summer, which makes it hard for polar bears to survive. You, your family and school can make a difference by learning ways to help the environment. The Earth Day Festival and Parade will be at Reid Park April 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What I like the most about my life is having friends like you who care!

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
