DPS launches DUI enforcement near Florence

PHOENIX – The Country Thunder music event is under way near Florence. Crowds are expected to reach 100,000 during the four-day event.

To make sure things run smoothly and keep people from driving drunk, the Arizona Department of Public Safety will be assisting local law enforcement.

The DPS DUI Enforcement Unit and DPS officers will be teaming up with the Pinal County DUI Task force and the Florence Police Department in a multiagency saturation in and around the area of Country Thunder through the end of the upcoming weekend.

DPS said that in previous years, there have been numerous arrests for impaired driving, underage alcohol consumption and other violations.

The four-day festival features country Western music entertainers that perform live shows.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
