UA softball team held to 1 hit in loss to Bruins

For the second time in three games, the University of Arizona softball team had trouble getting hits.

The No. 9 Wildcats were held to one hit in a 3-2 loss at No. 5 UCLA on Sunday, two days after being no-hit at Washington.

In between, the Wildcats pounded UCLA 9-2 on Saturday.

Two Bruins pitchers shut down UA on Sunday, with Megan Langenfield (4-0) earning the win in relief by throwing 5 1/2 no-hit innings.

Arizona’s Jenae Leles had UA’s hit, a homer in the first that put the Wildcats up 1-0.

UA got an unearned run in the second to go up 2-0, but UCLA scored twice in the second and once in the third to conclude the scoring.

Jennifer Martinez (7-3) took the loss, allowing seven hits and three runs on four innings. She struck out three.

UA next hosts Arizona State at 7 p.m. Friday.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
