Couple sought in South Side shooting

Deputies are seeking a couple implicated in the shooting of a man at a South Side convenience store.

Emmanuel Pimental, 18, is suspected to have shot the unidentified man in the neck, according to a press release issued by Deputy Dawn Barkman, a spokeswoman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Pimental may be with his girlfriend, 19-year-old Anabel Reyes, Barkman said.

Deputies were called to a Quik Mart in the 4200 block of East Benson Highway at about 3 a.m. Sunday for a report that a shooting had taken place.

They found the victim on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening injury, Barkman said.

Witnesses described a blue Dodge pickup truck that had run over the victim as it left the scene. A second red Chevy pickup was seen travelling with the Dodge pickup.

Deputies served a search warrant at Pimental’s home Sunday night and seized a blue pickup truck, but were unable to locate the suspected shooter.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pimental or Reyes is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME, the county attorney’s anonymous tipster line.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.
