Shooting suspect
Authorities released a video of the shooting that killed 20-year-old Francisco Antonio Calvillo and wounded his friend Monday night at a South Side car wash.
Calvillo died of his injuries in a local hospital early Tuesday, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a the Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.
Barkman could not say if the shootings of the two Nogales men were planned or random.
The footage consists of clips from three different surveillance cameras at the car wash in the 2600 block of West Valencia Road.
Because of the videos’ graphic nature, the Tucson Citizen is not publishing footage of the actual shooting.
One surveillance camera video shows a black convertible Audi pulling into a wash bay at the car wash; one of the victims can be seen in the background vacuuming his car.
A man gets out of the Audi pulls out a handgun as he backs toward the Nogales men, both cleaning the interiors of their cars.
In another video clip, the gunman can be seen approaching and shooting at two men.
Calvillo, seen cleaning the inside of his trunk, is shot. He runs alongside his car, away from the shooter, before falling down.
After the shooter leaves, Calvillo begins crawling to his car as his friend, apparently shot in the shoulder, gets out of his car and walks over to Calvillo.
Calvillo is on his knees, doubled over when his friend arrives, but slumps over onto his side shortly after.
Roughly three minutes of footage has been edited out of the video, which resumes to show lights from emergency vehicles and both Calvillo and his friend lying on the ground. The friend stands up, but Calvillo does not move.
Other footage shows the shooting suspect running from the scene as the Audi drives off in a separate direction.
The suspect was wearing dark-colored shorts and hat along with light-colored T-shirt and sneakers at the time of the attack.
Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME, the county’s anonymous tipster line.
