Memorial service Saturday for photo radar van killing victim

PHOENIX – A memorial service will be held Saturday for the photo radar enforcement operator who was shot to death in his vehicle in north Phoenix.

The service for 51-year-old Douglas Georgianni will be at 2 p.m. at Highlands Church, 9050 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd. in Scottsdale. A private reception will follow.

Georgianni was sitting inside his marked Arizona Department of Public Safety vehicle parked along the Loop 101 when a motorist drove up Sunday night and fired several shots into the vehicle, killing him.

The suspect, 68-year-old Phoenix resident Thomas Patrick Destories, has been charged with first-degree murder, drive-by shooting and firing a gun at a structure.

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.

For all of the stories that were archived by the Tucson Citizen newspaper's library in a digital archive between 1993 and 2009, go to Morgue Part 2
