Restaurant inspections

One restaurant received a “provisional” rating for five or more critical violations on unannounced county inspections April 1-27:

• Mercado Del Sol, 3000 S. Camino Del Sol

The restaurant received nine critical violations:

• Potentially hazardous foods not held at proper temperature

• Employees’ hands and exposed arms not clean and properly washed

• Employees not using proper hand and arm cleaning procedures

• Food employees not preventing contamination of ready-to-eat food by limiting bare hand contact to approved methods

• Food separation, packaging, segregation and substitution methods not preventing food and ingredient contamination

• Food contact surfaces and equipment not cleaned frequently to prevent food contamination

• Foods not correctly date marked

• Consumer advisories not conducted properly

• Other critical items not in compliance.

One food establishment received a “needs improvement” rating during the period:

• El Mezquite #2, 2540 E. Benson Highway (mobile vendor)

Citizen Online Archive, 2006-2009

This archive contains all the stories that appeared on the Tucson Citizen's website from mid-2006 to June 1, 2009.

In 2010, a power surge fried a server that contained all of videos linked to dozens of stories in this archive. Also, a server that contained all of the databases for dozens of stories was accidentally erased, so all of those links are broken as well. However, all of the text and photos that accompanied some stories have been preserved.
