NOTE:
The University of Arizona football team added some bulk to its much-maligned offensive line when it received a commitment from 6-foot-7, 305-pound right tackle Jose Portilla of Ricks Junior College in Rexburg, Idaho.
“UA had everything my wife (Joleen) and I were looking for,’ Portilla, 23, said. “It has a great coaching staff and the future looks bright for the Wildcats.’
Portilla, who played tight end in high school at Houston (Texas) McArthur, picked UA over North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Utah, Iowa and Oregon.
“They (UA) need someone to come in (and step up), and I think I can go in there and make a contribution to the team,’ Portilla said.
UA has now received commitments (which are non-binding) from seven recruits. National signing day is Feb. 7.
