Hitting recap: Catcher Chris Snyder belted a pair of three-run homers to finish with six RBIs. Justin Upton, who had two hits, blasted a two-run shot. Conor Jackson contributed two hits.
Pitching recap: Randy Johnson yielded five hits and three runs in 3 1/2 innings. Dustin Nippert, battling Brandon Medders for the final spot on the pitching staff, experienced another rough outing. He was tagged for six hits and five runs in an inning. Medders worked 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit.
Notable: A crowd of 11,374 watched Arizona and Dodgers. It was the largest crowd this season for the D’backs, surpassing the 7,568 that saw the Cubs earlier this month.
Chad Tracy and Miguel Montero increased their baseball-related activities Friday, although Arizona manager Bob Melvin said their return to play is a ways off.
Quotable: “Today was very productive,” Johnson said. “I threw all my pitches and worked both side of the plate. I made some good pitches and some bad ones.”
