ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

Citizen Staff Writer
SPRING TRAINING

Wednesday: Diamondbacks (Hector Ambriz) vs. Rockies (Jeff Francis), 1:05 p.m., Tucson Electric Park

Tuesday: Angels 9, Diamondbacks 8

Batting recap: Stephen Drew, Orlando Hudson and Mark Reynolds finished with three hits each. Conor Jackson, who continued his outstanding spring, had two hits and three RBIs. Reynolds slammed his third home run in the third inning.

Pitching recap: Brandon Webb was pounced on for 10 hits and seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. Chad Qualls turned in a scoreless inning. He has allowed two earned runs in eight innings this spring. Tony Peña continues to work himself into shape. He gave up one hit in an inning of work.

Notable: The D’backs have 35 players remaining in camp. The team has 10 more cuts to make before Opening Day next week.

Quotable: “A good sign is that (Reynolds) and Stephen (Drew) are swinging a lot better now,” said Arizona manager Bob Melvin. “They were struggling to an extent. Mark had good at-bats every time up.”

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
