COLORADO ROCKIES

The Associated Press
SPRING TRAINING

Wednesday: Diamondbacks (Hector Ambriz) vs. Rockies (Jeff Francis), 1 p.m., Tucson Electric Park

Tuesday: White Sox 5, Rockies 2

Batting recap: The Rockies could muster just five hits in the loss to the White Sox.

Pitching recap: Franklin Morales had four strong innings before becoming unhinged in the fifth, when he allowed all four of his runs.

Morales, who’s fighting for a spot in the rotation, has allowed 14 earned runs in his last three outings.

Notable: Second baseman Marcus Giles said he thought he’d soon be released by Colorado or traded, so he headed back home to San Diego on Tuesday morning, waiting to hear word. Giles doesn’t want to go to the minor leagues.

Quotable: “I’m a little disappointed in (Ubaldo) Jimenez and Morales, that they’re not getting to the part in the ball game that we need them to get to,” pitching coach Bob Apodaca said before Morales’ outing. “I’m sure they’re disappointed.”

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
