SPRING TRAINING

Friday: Rockies (Micah Bowie) at Diamondbacks (Doug Davis), 6:10 p.m., Chase Field

Thursday: Rockies 6, Angels (ss) 2

Pitching Recap: Rockies’ right-hander Kip Wells, demoted to the bullpen last week, got the start and gave up a run and three hits in three innings. He lowered his spring ERA to 4.71.

He’s slated to come out of the Rockies’ bullpen after going 7-17 with a 5.70 ERA in 26 starts with St. Louis in 2007.

Hitting recap: Troy Tulowitzki, Garrett Atkins and Chris Iannetta hit home runs.

The Rockies had 11 hits, including Tulowitzki’s sixth homer of the spring. Iannetta hit his fourth and Atkins his first.

Quotable: “His fastball was improved,” Colorado manager Clint Hurdle said of Wells. “His fastball was the best I’ve seen from him all spring. He had a good mix on his pitches. All his stuff was sharp.”

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
