No. 2-seeded Avondale Westview had its way with visiting Mountain View on Friday, opening the Class 5A Division II playoffs with a 48-14 win.

Westview (10-1) rolled up 432 rushing and 127 passing yards.

The Knights led 21-7 at halftime and put the game away with 21 points in the third quarter.

No. 15 Mountain View’s scores came on a 3-yard pass from C.J. Evenson to Miles Williams in the second quarter and a 1-yard run by Eric Davis in the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring.

Westview’s Carlton Williams gave his team a 14-0 lead with touchdown runs of 67 and 24 yards in the first quarter.

R.J. Robinson also had a big game on the ground for the Knights, scoring on runs of 10, 19 and 97 yards.

The 97-yard scamper in the fourth quarter put Westview up 48-7.

Mountain View finished 4-7 on the season. The Mountain Lions were 1-2 in the 5A Southern-II Region.

Westview plays No. 7 Boulder Creek in the quarterfinals on Friday. Boulder Creek beat Surprise Willow Canyon 20-7 in the first round.
