The No. 17-ranked Pima Community College women’s basketball team avenged an earlier loss to Arizona Western with a 58-48 win over the Matadors on Wednesday.

Tia Morrison of Phoenix led Pima (17-3, 11-2) with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Abyee Maracigan (Flowing Wells High) had 14 rebounds and NeNe Villalobos (Sunnyside) had 11 points.

“We played great defense,” Pima coach Todd Holthaus said.

Pima hosts Mesa at 2 p.m. Saturday.

• The Pima men fell to No. 20 Arizona Western 88-65, despite 20 points from Rincon grad Terrence Hill. Pima (8-13, 4-9) hosts Mesa at 4 p.m. Saturday.
