The University of Arizona College of Architecture will hold a fundraiser Saturday for its participation in the 2009 Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C.

The “Solar Decath-o-Prom” will be 7 to 11:30 p.m. in the Sundt Gallery in the UA architecture building, 1040 N. Olive Road.

The event will feature a disc jockey, food and dancing. Gift certificates from area stores and restaurants will be raffled.

Prom tickets cost $20 at the door or $15 in advance at the architecture building.

UA will compete against 19 other schools at the Solar Decathlon, where 800-square-foot solar-powered homes will be displayed and judged on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The UA team, which received $100,000 from event sponsor U.S. Department of Energy and a matching $100,000 grant from the Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy at UA, hopes to raise $180,000 more for research, solar panels and transporting the building to Washington.

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
