A forum on how the state should spend the money it receives if a stimulus package is approved will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 16 at the University of Arizona Student Union in the Tucson and Catalina rooms.

Arizona is poised to receive more than $6.5 billion from the economic recovery bill, if approved by the U.S. Senate. A bill was approved in the House.

The state faces a $1.6 billion deficit and had a jobless rate of 6.9 percent for December, the highest since 1993.

Democrat Gabrielle Giffords is hosting the forum.

The forum, one of several planned, is open to the public, but space is limited so those interested must RSVP by Feb. 11.

E-mail Gabe Zimmerman at gabe.zimmerman@mail.house. gov or call 881-3588 to RSVP.

Future dates for other forums have not been determined.

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
