Comcast has called in the FBI to help find out who tapped into the cable company’s system during the Super Bowl telecast and inserted a porn clip Feb. 1, the company’s corporate affairs manager in Tucson, Kelle Maslyn, said Tuesday.

About 30 seconds of a pornographic movie distributed by an adult entertainment Web site was broadcast during the fourth quarter just after the Arizona Cardinals had scored a go-ahead touchdown.

“Comcast has conducted an extensive, methodical investigation of the Super Bowl programming interruption in Tucson and we have verified that this was an intentional, malicious act,” she said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.

Maslyn said Comcast has “shared all our information on this situation” with the FBI and will continue to cooperate with the investigation.

Comcast is offering $10 credits to any of its customers in Tucson “who were impacted,” Maslyn said last week. To get the credit, customers should call 888-315-8219.

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
