Senior pitcher Josh King couldn’t have asked for anything more from his offense.
King’s Tanque Verde baseball team defeated St. Gregory 21-7 on Monday afternoon, pushing King’s pitching record on the year to 6-0.
King struck out 13 and hit a double as Tanque Verde improved its overall record to 13-2.
Catalina 6, Marana 2: The Trojans scored runs in the first four innings to win at home.
After scoring a run in each of the first three innings, the Trojans scored three in the fourth.
Frankie Daniel and Robert Pearson hit home runs for Catalina.
Nogales 8, Douglas 1: The Apaches’ bats exploded in the middle innings against the Bulldogs.
With a scoreless tie heading into the bottom of the fourth, Nogales found its rhythm, logging three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings and two in the sixth.
Martin Lopez hit a double; teammate Daniel Zuniga hit a triple.
Softball
Victoria Amavizca pitched a one-hitter as Rincon/University defeated Santa Rita 11-1 in six innings.
Virginia Baygents hit a triple, and Anissa Garcia hit two doubles for Rincon.
Boys volleyball
Sunnyside remained undefeated on Monday, beating Santa Rita 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-19).
Sean Fulcher led the Blue Devils with 11 kills and 15 digs.
Adam Fridley had 14 kills for the Eagles.
