A Tucson man has been ordered held in the Pima County Jail in lieu of $175,000 bail in the weekend killing of his father at the midtown home they shared, Tucson police said.
Rocky J. Sandoval, 25, of the 1800 block of West Astolat Road was booked into jail about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on a charge of first-degree murder in the killing of Dominic D. Sandoval, 49, police said in a news release.
Police got a call from Rocky Sandoval’s mother about 3:40 p.m. Saturday in which she told police that her son had killed his father, her ex-husband, and the younger man was at her home in midtown Tucson.
Officers went to the West Astolat home and found Dominic Sandoval’s body and “evidence consistent with a violent confrontation,” Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a police spokesman, said in the statement.
Other officers went to the mother’s home, where they found Rocky Sandoval, Pacheco said. He was arrested shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, a jail records clerk said.
Officer Charles Rydzak, another police spokesman, Sunday would not say how the older man was killed or what evidence was collected in a search of the Astolat Road home or at Sandoval’s ex-wife’s home.
He did not know how the woman learned of her ex-husband’s death.
