Michelle Denise Sprang, 32, was found guilty of second-degree murder Friday in Pima County Superior Court after four days of testimony.
Sprang beat and strangled Addie Mae Lee, 49, on Oct. 8, 2006, in a motel room on North Oracle Road.
A maid who entered a room at the Oasis Motel, 1701 N. Oracle Road, to clean it said she saw blood and called police, who found Lee’s body.
The case went cold until detectives located the suspect in Houston in April 2008 and brought her to Tucson for trial. She had been charged with first-degree murder.
Prosecutor William McCollum said Sprang acted alone.
He said the jury deliberated about eight hours Thursday and Friday, following a four-day trial.
He said no motive in the murder was determined.
Sprang remains in the Pima County Jail awaiting sentencing May 19. She faces 10 to 22 years in prison.
