AlphaGraphics Offers Full Spectrum of Self-Publishing Services

TUCSON, AZ – AlphaGraphics Commercial Printing Services has produced many full-color and fine art books on its million-dollar 40-inch Heidelberg 6-color Speedmaster press – the only one in Arizona. Now the company is expanding its author support and short-run printing services by adding a second self-publishing specialist to the staff.

Lisa Levine is a writer, editor and teacher withexperiencein small pressbook publishing in Tucson, Manhattan, and San Francisco –most notablywith Kore Press,the Not for Tourists Guides and France Today.

She joins Kevin Jones who oversees two AlphaGraphics retail stores and has worked with several authors through the process of self-publishing their books – including “Javelina on Her Doorstep” by Lorna Kraemer and RaMar Gorby Orgeron, which was recently named one of the of 10 Best Southwest Books of the Year by the Arizona Daily Star.

“Self-publishing is a significant market today. We’ve already published several authors whom we met through the Tucson Festival of Books,” Jones said. “Now we’re offering greater depth of service for the authors who publish with us – from editing, graphic design and printing to e-book formatting, marketing and fulfillment. We provide guidance and direction at every step of the way, resulting in a professional, marketable book that begs to be read.”

Levine taught fiction at the University of Arizona while earning her master of fine arts degree in creative writing and now teaches writing at Pima Community College. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley. She recently published a broadside with Tucson’sEdge Reading Series. Previous literacy outreach work includes serving as a teaching artist at Sam Hughes Elementary and as a Big Sister in the Alameda County School District.

AlphaGraphics Commercial Printing Services specializes in full-color printing, digital printing, direct mail and marketing campaigns. Judy Tenen and Gary Tenen have owned and operated three AlphaGraphics facilities in Tucson since 1981 – the hub manufacturing plant at 2500 N. Coyote Dr. – plus two retail stores, one at Oracle and Ina, the other at Grant at Swan. The company has a staff of 60.
