2010 Texas GOP Platform-Back to the Dark Ages

I was reading the Huffington Post while on vacation regarding the recently released 2010 Texas GOP Platform and was totally blown away by the entire document. You might as well equate it to the sentiment Fred Phelps and his supporters espouse. It’s a “God Hates Faggots” doctrine spread over 25 pages of vitriol.

Included in the document are the following principles:

  • We support the definition of marriage as a God–ordained, legal and moral commitment only between a natural man and a natural woman, which is the foundational unit of a healthy society nd we oppose the assault on marriage by judicial activists.
  • We believe that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases. Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been rdained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle in our public education and policy, nor should “family” be redefined to include homosexual “couples.” We are opposed to any granting of special legal entitlements, refuse to recognize, or grant special privileges including, but not limited to: marriage between persons of the same sex (regardless of state of origin), custody of children by homosexuals, homosexual partner insurance or retirement benefits. We oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values.
  • We oppose the legalization of sodomy. We demand that Congress exercise its authority granted by the U.S. Constitution to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.
  • We also believe that no homosexual or any individual convicted of child abuse or molestation should have the right to custody or adoption of a minor child…
  • We support legislation that would make it a felony to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple and for any civil official to perform a marriage ceremony for such.

It’s really kind of ironic that the preamble to this disturbing document says “Throughout the world people dare to dream of freedom and opportunity. The Republican Party of Texas unequivocally defends that dream.” I guess the “people” they are referring to are not members of the LGBT community or anyone else who truly supports rights for all of its citizens. How pathetic and hateful some people can be.  I always thought the Republican mantra was to keep government out of the people’s lives. I can only hope that the government protects its people from implementing such backward principles.

Hey Rambler: hocking, simply shocking! Although there is one plank in the Texas GOP platform that I agree with.
    - Any individual convicted of child abuse or molestation should have the right to custody or adoption of a minor child.
    What say you?
As far as the Texas political races go, Ferrari Bubba, being an official certificate holding ‘Honorary Citizen and Voter of the Great State of Texas’, I am, and have been a staunch supporter of that Great Texan, and the World’s tallest living Jew, Kinky Freedman, the next Governor of Texas.
Who can not like a man who loves dogs, Tex-Mex music and food, and wrote the hit song, ‘They don’t make Jews like Jesus, anymore.’?
His rather live-and-let-live attitude is a breath of fresh air on the Texas scene.
His campaign promise of, “if you don’t go around humping kids, girls, other men, my dogs, or barnyard animals, I don’t give a hoot what you do in your own bedrooms,” is such an open-minded joy to hear in these troubled times, don’t you think?
I’m suprised that the Texas GOP hasn’t tried to pass a law to make all our gay brothers and sisters wear rainbow armbands! Shame on them!
    Yer pal, Ferrari Bubba

I just don’t equate gays and lesbians with child molesters like these people do.

Hey ‘Bow: That’s just it. Kinky doesn’t pass judgement on gays, transvestites, cross-dressers, or anybody, else, as long as you don’t try to put a tu-tu on one of his sheep and take her to your local drive-in movie on a date.
Your free to march (or dance) in the annual Austin Gay-Pride Parade in your GI Joe  camo BDUs complete with your spike high heels and whip if it turns you on.
That’s what I like about the guy. And his wife, Esther, keeps a Kosher kitchen, too.
        Shalom, yer pal, Ferrari Bubba

And then there was Arizona’s own Barbara Blewster, who linked homosexuality to bestiality, cannibalism and human sacrifice.  Still, she was one individual, and was roundly drubbed, even by a number of republicans.

Is there any segment of the right in Texas that is criticising this platform?

Texas: It’s like a whole ‘nother country.

The Citizen is starting to look like the Arizona Daily Star. Liberal prattle and illegal alien lovers.

  • PLEASE Do This

Alright Texas, Please vote these people into office.  This NEEDS TO BE DONE!  I 100% agree that this is right for TEXAS!  Ok, now that that is done, after you put these policies into place, corporations will flock from your borders (for fear of being sued for trying to obey this law), the state will be sued so many times it won’t be funny (I mean, the violate their first “Principle” for strict adherence to the US Constitution.), and sane people will finally leave Texas.  So, youwill increase employment in other states, put all the irrational people in one state, and relieve the rest of the country for hypocracy, LOVE IT!  In the famous words of nike, “JUST DO IT!”  B/C as soon as it is done, you will find yourself in the 1950′s…and you might think the 1950′s were so great, but that is probably because we all thought times were good when we were CHIDLREN.  However, there was constant threat of nukes, gas shortages, shorter life spans, less income, and well hell, women, get back in the dang kitchen..what’s next? Segregation? YAY TEXAS! (oh, and BTW, the Bushes are from New England States….)
