O’Neill zings Horne after Horne points to O’Neill after three-point play

by on Jan. 29, 2011, under Sports

There was a pretty good moment in McKale Center when Arizona’s Jamelle Horne hit a basket and was fouled. After he got up from off the floor, Horne pointed to USC coach Kevin O’Neill, the former UA coach who once coached Horne while he was a freshman. Horne added a free throw to make it 30-18 with 5:48 left.

Apparently, O’Neill missed it. “I don’t know and it wouldn’t matter to me if he did,” O’Neill said. “I’m just waiting for the NBA career to take off.”

Ouch!

UA eventually won the game, 82-73, in McKale Center.

Still not as good as when Steve Kerr threw the ball back at Oregon coach Don Monson after Monson threw the ball at him while he was standing at the free throw line.

KO is simply a petty jerk. Uh a player pointed at you so you go ahead and dismiss his entire career. Real classy. And yet people still maintain that KO did not get the UofA in trouble once he knew he was wanted.

I’ll be willing to bet Horne has twice – at least – the NBA career O’Neill had. If I’m not mistaken, Jamelle’s already had twice – at least – the NCAA career O’Neill’s had. After this year, if things continue as they are for the Cats, JH will have gone to 4 Big Dances as part of the Cats. I don’t know – did O’Neill take Marquette to the Tourney once, twice, let alone three times? Don’t think so. ‘Cause I know Tennessee and Northwestern made it to the NIT, and only the NIT, under this sad excuse for a coach’s “leadership”. And yes, I know the UA went Dancing in his one year at the helm, inspite of him. Still, the math, and the facts, tend to trend toward No. 42.
