Ironwood Pig Sanctuary Open House

This Saturday, November 12, the Ironwood Pig Sanctuary is opening its doors to pig sponsors and friends who want to get to know what this one-of-a-kind pig rescue is all about.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

While there is no admission charge, please bring an old blanket as a donation, if possible. Pigs love their blankets!

The location is about one hour northwest of Tucson and requires driving over about 4 miles of dirt road. The tour takes about at least one hour; you will be on foot so wear walking shoes and a hat.

The pigs reside on about 15 acres so there’s a lot of walking to do.

The friendly folks at the Sanctuary will provide light refreshments — visitors might consider buying a calendar or tshirt to help in the fundraising efforts.

To get directions, please email ironwoodpigs@yahoo.com

If you cannot go, I recommend visiting the website and reading their well done newsletters and see if there’s something on their wish list that you can contribute to.

Speaking of pigs, the McRib sandwich has some bad PR and “hellish”practices associated with it. Read the article.
