Sidiki Johnson dismissed from Oak Hill for violating undisclosed team rule

by on Feb. 20, 2011, under Sports

Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy coach Steve Smith confirmed this morning via text message that Arizona Class of 2011 recruit Sidiki Johnson and a teammate have been dismissed from the team for violating an undisclosed team rule.

“Yes, all I can say,” Smith texted me in response to whether Johnson and fellow senior Ben McLemore were dismissed from the team for violating a team rule.

Attempts to reach Johnson, a 6-9, 220-pound power forward who has signed with Arizona, have been unsuccessful. McLemore is a 6-5, 185-pound wing player who narrowed his college choices to Kansas and Missouri.

How their dismissal from Oak Hill’s program affects their academic standing and eligibility for college is uncertain at this time.

First Josiah, now Sidiki. What next? Let’s hope these kids get the drama out of the way before arriving on campus and joining the team for workouts. This may also be why premature talk of current players transferring needs to stop. None of the newbies are on campus yet, obviously. And it’s a long way to August.

When are students(whether HS or College, even some Professional Sports Players) going to GROW UP AND BE RESPONSIBLE (espec. our African Amer. young men)When you do something wrong(committ a crime, sin or just plain stupidity) you will get caught and there are CONSEQUENCES!!!! They know what is expected of them and know the do’s & don’ts at Oakhill Acad.  Now their families are disappointed, they’ve let down the Coaches, teammates & now they are sitting somewhere looking CRAZY!! WAS IT WORTH IT? WHATEVER YOU DID.  YOU WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW!!  So any young men reading this, obey the rules whether you like it or night, big or small.  Display self-discipline,self- respect & respect for others & be responsible. Use YOUR BRAIN & LEARN TO SAY “NO!” If it isn’t right, then take a flight!!

Lorraine that was a good response and all but do you not feel like you are prematurely jumping to conclusions?  How can you be certain these young men disappointed anyone in their family without knowing the complete story?  We do not even know half of the story!  I find it to be a poor display of character for someone to be so judgemental of a situation they know nothing about…
