With Arizona co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh reportedly off to West Virginia, one of the questions for the Wildcats is how that will affect their recruiting in the Chicago area.
We might find out Jan. 21.
That is when offensive tackle Chris Bryant from Chicago Simeon High School is expected to choose between Arizona and Michigan.
(Hmmm … will Jim Harbaugh be the Wolverines’ head coach by then?)
Anyway, Bryant said those are his final two schools, although he can’t quite rule out Ohio State.
“Ohio State is the only other school I’ll consider making any more official visits to,” Bryant told the Chicago Tribune. “I’d consider visiting Ohio State if they offer me a scholarship. I just want to focus in on a few schools and then make my final choice from those schools.”
Bryant told EdgyTim.com — which focuses on Illinois high school sports on the Rivals.com network — that he was “sad to see Coach Bedenbaugh leave Arizona” but that he was “still good with Arizona.”
Bryant was a high school teammate of Fabbians Ebbele, a promising offensive tackle who redshirted at Arizona in 2010, also recruited by Bedenbaugh.
Rivals.com rates Bryant as a four-star recruit and lists him as the sixth-best prospect in the state.
Arizona has added a mid-year junior college recruit on the offensive line — center Addison Bachman (who could also end up at guard). Arizona coach Mike Stoops prefers to bring in junior college recruits at the semester break, but he told me during bowl practices that he would still be considering other JC help for the interior of the offensive line.
