Using his head: Arizona offensive lineman shows he’s ready for camp

Jack Baratz and his new 'do.

As the Arizona Wildcats reported to camp over the past two days — newcomers on Tuesday, veterans on Wednesday — there was, naturally, an abundance of “we’re excited to get started” sentimentality.

Even for practices at 6:15 a.m.

But sophomore offensive lineman Jake Baratz didn’t just talk a good game.

He showed his excitement for the season by going to the barber and asking that the school’s “A” logo be shaved into the back of his head.

The Wildcats have had no shortage of hairy issues in recent seasons — from quarterback Nick Foles’ mangy mop (which is a bit tamer this season), to a collection of bearded offensive linemen, to various afros, including one worn last season by quarterback Bryson Beirne to honor his late great-grandmother.

But Baratz is at the top of the class as camp starts. Give him an “A.”
