Arizona Wildcats at Fort Huachuca: Photos from Friday’s practice

FORT HUACHUCA — Here’s the truth of it: I got a “D” in Photojournalism many years ago — and that lousy grade was a gift from a professor who took pity, knowing that I needed that last unit in order to graduate.

So, if you’re looking for professional-grade photos on Arizona Wildcats sports, check out anything David Sanders does at the Arizona Daily Star … and if want to see how do a photo gallery from the football camp at Fort Huachuca, the Star’s Dean Knuth shows us the way.

I’m just a writer with a camera with a too short lens, lacking the benefit of a nice sunshine-y morning on the Army post. Here’s the relative best I could do while pointing-and-shooting through Friday morning’s practice:

Joe Salave'a worked up a good sweat coaching his defensive linemen -- and this really early in the practice. Players and fellow coaches have been impressed impressed with the passion of the first-year Arizona assistant, who coaches as hard as he played as a Wildcat in the 1990s.

True freshman running back Ka'Deem Carey looks for daylight.

Tight end Drew Robinson battles defensive end Lamar De Rego in a one-on-one blocking drill.

Cortez Johnson comes down with an interception in front of fellow true freshman Patrick Onwuasor.

Secondary coach Ryan Walters celebrates with Cortez Johnson after the freshman's interception.

New offensive line coach Robert Anae watches over some of his big 'uns.

Daniel Jenkins, who is the second-string running back behind Keola Antolin, finishes off a run.
