Arizona adds a defensive back from Texas to its recruiting class

The Arizona football team picked up its 14th commitment Tuesday when Leo Thomas, a defensive back from Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, picked the Wildcats.

Thomas also held offers from Colorado, SMU, Wake Forest among others.

Coach Mike Stoops and his staff, always active in recruiting Texas, has three players from the Lone Star state in the 2012 class.

Thomas is rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247sports.com, which first reported the commitment Tuesday.

Thomas, 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, told WildcatSportsReport.com that the Wildcats peg him as a safety.

“Coach Stoops I know has a history of sending defensive backs to the league and I like that,” Thomas told WildcatSportsReport.com, one of the partners in the TucsonCitizen.com Sports Network. “The education I could get at Arizona would be really good. I like what they have to offer as a school.”
