Rich Rodriguez’s compensation: nearly $2 million per year, five years

New Arizona Wildcats football coach Rich Rodriguez will be given a five-year contract, starting with a base salary of $1.45 million, subject to approval of the Arizona Board of Regents.

Rodriguez will earn an additional $300,000 per year from outside income, paid by Nike and IMG.

The base salary escalates to 1.5 million in the second year, and then to $1.6 million, $1.7 million and then $1.8 million.

The five-year total of the base salary is $8,050,000, rising to $9,550,000 million with the additional outside income.

Bonuses include $150,000 for playing in the national title game, $100,000 for any other BCS game, $75,000 for being Pac-12 South champs, $75,000 for being Pac-12 champions and $75,000 for being in a non-BCS bowl game.

    Hello again hello Anthony Gimino. Have you jumped on the band wagone yet? Did I do a good job campaigning for Coach Rich Rodriguez? A 5 year contract? Didn’t I say it takes 4-5 years to build a program from the ground up? Hence, the 5 year contract. I love it! Am I happy yes! I’m buying season tickets for my neighbors, friends and family.

    Santo aren’t you a little full of yourself? It is doubtful that your input made the hire or length of the contract happen. Interesting way you spell wagone instead of wagon. Freudian slip (way gone?)

      You are correct a 5 year contract is standard in Arizona and of course the max allowable. So they really did not go out on a limb for the contract length, it’s standard stuff for the state university’s.

    Santo…pleeease. In other blogs regarding the hiring of Rodriguez you talk about moral fiber, integrity, and leading by example. If you practiced what you preach you would not be bragging so much about your “prediction” and how right you are. It is called arrogance. All you are doing is masturbating…that is, making yourself feel good.

    Handwind, thank you for your comments. I know you’re an ASU fan but that’s ok no need to apologize. Again as an Arizona fan, and sponsor, there hasn’t been to much to brag about. The 3 bowl games were exciting and I could see how we all bonded together, and had a blast while tailgating. Though we didn’t win it sure felt good being there. On another note UCLA has had a poor showing the last 10 years with all USC Heisman quarterbacks and candidates. USC has eaten them up and that’s only 10 years. There fans feel like losers. Well Arizona has suffered a lot longer, by not ever going to the Rose Bowl. In fact I don’t know if it was you, but some even suggested Arizona join the Mountain West. So if my bragging, satisfaction, happyness bothers you seek some help. I’m not the one that has the problem. If you are an Arizona Wildcat fan you should be thanking me for the one person campaign I did. Now watch everyone jump and say their happy. The sports writers didn’t even have Rich Rodriguez on their radar. As for the spelling on wagon only tell’s me you are a nitpicker. No substance!

      Thanking you? There you go again. Brag for UA and our (see ‘our?’ I’m a UA grad) fans. Not yourself. Substance? I’m all for reading about the team, the game, performances on the field, etc. Not some narcisist who only posts to make himself feel better. Campaign? Yea, right.

    How was your crow you had for Thanksgiving? I read your post above and it doesn’t make any sense to me. You complained on the spelling for wagone but you failed when it came to passing English. If you’re handicap let me know and I’ll apologize. I do support the special olympics and other organizations.

    Go Rich Rodriguez! I would love to see what your family photo looks like next to Rich Rodriguez’s family.

    nice to see rich has a chance to destroy another team, i will have to say it appears teams aren`t  paying what they use to (michigan) to have their teams look like fools on the field. oh and rich, please go run your mouth like you did at michigan so their good players can also tell you to stick the football up your a$$ and go play for a winning team! tell leather face to put on her sun screen too, she looks now like you could make a nice pair of alligator skin boots out of her now!
