Cornerback from Philadelphia changes mind, ditches Pitt for Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats have picked up their second player who was once committed to Pittsburgh, as three-star cornerback William Parks committed on his official visit Saturday.

Parks, from Philadelphia’s Germantown Friends School, tweeted the news of his commitment.

Parks, who committed to the Panthers last summer, decided to look around again when coach Todd Graham left in December for Arizona State.

The Wildcats already had a good scouting report on and relationship with Parks, considering three former Pitt assistants — including defensive backs coach Tony Gibson — are now at Arizona working for head coach Rich Rodriguez.

Parks is rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports, which ranks him as the 31st-best player in Pennsylvania.

Arizona has been adding tall defensive backs lately — including 6-2 Leo Thomas from San Antonio and 6-4 Yamen Sanders from Culver City, Calif. — and Parks fits the mode. He is listed at 6-3, 180.

Earlier this month, outside linebacker Dakota Conwell committed to Arizona after backing out of his pledge to Pittsburgh.
