That’s one Scottsdale Chaparral High School recruit down; two to go?

Chaparral linebacker Cody Ippolito, an Arizona Republic All-Arizona selection, has committed to the Arizona Wildcats, who are still pursuing two of his teammates.

Ippolito made 109 tackles, including two sacks, last season as the middle linebacker for 14-1 Chaparral, which won the Class 5A-II state title. Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247Sports rate Ippolito as a two-star recruit.

Ippolito (6-0, 235) also had an offer from Northern Illinois and took a visit to Utah.

Arizona also would like to land Chaparral defensive end Dylan Cozens and receiver Davonte’ Neal, one of the nation’s top uncommitted player. Neal is Ippolito’s best friend.

“I hope he comes with me,” Ippolito told the Arizona Republic. “I’m behind him 100 percent wherever he goes. You have to do what’s best for you. If he doesn’t (come to UA), I have to support him no matter what.”

Neal is still deciding on where to take his fifth official visit; he had planned to take a trip to Arizona on Feb. 10, although Oklahoma has entered the picture.

Cozens is expected to chose between the Wildcats and Washington. His announcement will be part of a show on FoxSportsArizona.com, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Chaparral’s head coach, Charlie Ragle, is now part of new Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez’s administrative staff as assistant director of football operations. He serves as a liaison for in-state recruiting.
