Two more players commit for Arizona football’s rapidly expanding recruiting class

Seemingly intent of filling up its quota of recruits before the season, Arizona added two more committed players to its Class of 2013 on Sunday.

The Cats received commitments from defensive tackle Tony Mekari of Westlake High School in Westlake Village, Calif., and R.J. Morgan, a defensive back from Crater High in Central Point, Ore.

Mekari committed during an unofficial visit to campus.

“The coaches were showing me the schematics for all the new facilities. It’s extraordinary,” Mekari told WildcatSportsReport.com, one of TucsonCitizen.com’s sports partners.

“The school is great, and it’s a campus town which I love. I wanted to see the whole campus before I said anything to the coaches. It all went perfect.”

Mekari (6-2, 270) is not yet rated by the major recruiting services. He played defensive end, defensive tackle and right offensive tackle last season.

Morgan (6-2, 210) is ranked as a two-star recruit by Rivals.com. He, too, was recently in Tucson for an unofficial visit, and the UA coaches liked what they saw off his game tapes. Here is a link to his junior-year highlights.

Arizona has commitments from 19 players — nine of which came within the span of eight days.
