Arizona isn’t making its basketball team available to the media as the Wildcats prepare for their exhibition trip to the Bahamas later this month, citing NCAA rules governing summer workouts that prohibit publicity of those workouts.
(Not all schools interpret the rules this way and have allowed coverage of teams preparing for an exhibition trip.)
Anyway, UA did release a video of coach Sean Miller on Thursday evening, talking about, among other things, the trip, the team’s newcomers and overall construction of the roster for the upcoming season.
“We have the components that could really be the makings of something special,” Miller said.
Miller added that with what looks like a deep and versatile roster, he isn’t sure his starting lineup will be consistent this season. The ability to play with combinations will foster daily competition in practice.
“I believe that is something we’ll take advantage of, if we continue with good health,” Miller said.
Arizona will spend five days in the Bahamas, playing exhibitions on Aug. 11 and Aug. 13 and holding an intrasquad scrimmage.
