The Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game is returning to Tucson, to be played Jan. 11 at Kino Stadium.

The game made its Tucson debut earlier this year, when 7,839 attended the event, exceeding expectations after the Tucson Padres minor-league baseball team purchased the rights to the game only a few weeks earlier.

Of the 90 players in the game, six were drafted, including offensive lineman Gino Gradkowski, who was the 98th overall selection. Sixty-one of the players made NFL camps. Several Arizona Wildcats played in the game as well.

Joe Dan Rogers was announced as the new executive director. He has been a college scout and is the former executive director of the Hula Bowl.

“The opportunity to work with these young men to help them realize their dreams of playing on the next level is a job I welcome with open arms,” Rogers said in a news release. “Having a great city like Tucson with tremendous football fans, perfect weather in January and the support of Casino Del Sol will make the 2013 event extraordinary.”

The game will be shown on ESPN3. Further details are expected to be announced Thursday, Nov. 1.
