The Arizona Wildcats have a shorter injury list than in the past few weeks as they finish preparation for the regular-season finale against Arizona State.
Starting defensive end Reggie Gilbert, who left last week’s game at Utah in the first half because of ankle injury, is listed as questionable. Gilbert had started to make an impact on Arizona’s pass rush, with 3.5 sacks in four games before playing the Utes.
Gilbert is the only Arizona player listed as questionable on the team’s weekly injury report. Nobody is listed as doubtful.
Three Cats are considered probable:
–Backup safety Wayne Capers (illness). He didn’t make the trip to Utah last week, which meant that when Tra’Mayne Bondurant had to leave the game in the first half with an injury, walk-on Blake Brady had to step in at Spur safety. Bondurant is apparently fine, as he is not on the injury list.
–Starting offensive guard Chris Putton (concussion). Putton has missed the past two games. His likely return gives UA a solid rotation of eight players and more versatility, considering he can also play left tackle.
–Wide receiver Dan Buckner (ankle). He is second on the team with 58 catches for 730 yards and five touchdowns. Buckner was limited in practice this week.
Sophomore linebacker Hank Hobson remains out because of a neck injury suffered at UCLA on Nov. 3.
Looking only at guys who did or could have impacted the two-deep, here is a list of how many games Arizona players have missed (or in the case of those who won’t be back will miss) this season because of injury. Total games lost so far: 115.
