Arizona Wildcats lose quarterback recruit

The Arizona Wildcats, with an expanding roster of quarterbacks — including junior college transfer Jesse Scroggins, who will enroll at the semester break — has lost one of its committed signal-callers.

Tommy Woodson
from Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pa., de-committed Thursday, with the news confirmed to ESPN.com by his high school coach.

Woodson is rated a two-star recruit by Rivals.com and Scout.com, and is a three-star prospect on 247Sports.

Arizona projects to have five quarterbacks on scholarship in 2013 — senior B.J. Denker, Scroggins (who will be a junior), redshirt freshmen Javelle Allen and Josh Kern and true freshman Anu Solomon, who could be the gem of coach Rich Rodriguez’s first full recruiting class.

UA also has walk-on Nick Isham, who started several games at Louisiana Tech last season.

Arizona had commitments from three high school quarterbacks at one point, but Brandon Cox from Pasadena (Calif.) High School changed from the Wildcats to Utah in October.
