When the Arizona Wildcats lost a committed defensive tackle to Cal last month, coach Rich Rodriguez was left with no defensive tackles in this recruiting class.
He solved that problem Monday with the commitment of 6-foot5, 350-pound David Maka from Tustin (Calif.) High School, according to the Orange County Register.
Maka also visited Kentucky (and new coach Mark Stoops) last month, once held an offer from UCLA, and was also mulling offers from Cal, Utah, Hawaii and San Diego State.
He is rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and Scout.com, and a two-star recruit by 247Sports.
He fills a vacancy created when Tony Mekari from Westlake Village, Calif., de-committed from the Wildcats.
Signing Day is Wednesday.
