The Arizona Wildcats have 120 yards, including navy end zones, of FieldTurf Revolution with Cool Play.

Crews laid down the playing surface Wednesday and were working on installing the sidelines Thursday morning.

The end zones will feature “Arizona” in red lettering, with the block A logo at midfield. The words Bear Down will be written in ghost lettering spanning about 55 yards between the hashmarks. (You can see a mock-up of the design of the field at this link.)

“We’ve had a beautiful grass field and we can certainly grow grass here and all that,” coach Rich Rodriguez said on Signing Day.

“But I think for us, from a functional standpoint, being able to practice on it two days a week and for our guys to work on it year-round ….I think there is something different about practicing in the stadium. Plus, from an aesthetic standpoint, you’re going to be able to see a nice green field.”

The new turf is all part of the makeover of Arizona Stadium, the centerpiece of which is the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility in the north end zone.

The university is releasing a four-part video tour of the facilities, with Rodriguez serving as the guide. Here is a link to the first part.

And here is Part II, which highlights the third floor — coaches offices, players’ lounge and auditorium.
