Arizona lands commitment from state of Oregon’s top receiver

Jordan Morgan, a big-play receiver from Beaverton, Ore., committed to the Arizona Wildcats on Sunday.

Morgan attended Arizona’s 7-on-7 camp this weekend on the UA campus.

Morgan is a three-star receiver (by 247Sports) who has been noted as one of the top athletes among skill players in the Northwest for the past few years.

He ran a 4.52 40-yard dash at a camp this spring and posted a 3.97-second time in the 20-yard shuttle, which is a good test of short-area acceleration. (By comparison, former Arizona quarterback Matt Scott ran the shuttle at the NFL Combine in 3.99 seconds, which was the best time for a QB since at least 2006).

Morgan (6-2, 200) had several other offers, mostly from Mountain West schools at this point. He has been receiving interest from other Pac-12 schools (he attended ASU Junior Day, for example), but Arizona jumped before any other conference team and offered him a scholarship in April. The Wildcats then secured the commitment before Morgan makes the rounds on the summer camp circuit.

He is considered the top receiver in the state of Oregon by NorthwestEliteIndex.com.

You can see his highlight video here, which includes some nifty kick returns as well as long pass receptions.

He had one game last season in which he returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown, and caught touchdown passes of 78, 52 and 41 yards.

Arizona has five players, all on offense, committed to its 2014 class.
