The Arizona Wildcats have added one high-profile player from Scottsdale Chaparral High this offseason and is in the market for a second.

Coach Rich Rodriguez added Notre Dame sophomore transfer receiver Davonte’ Neal during spring ball, and hosted a visit from Texas transfer quarterback Connor Brewer last week, according to the Arizona Republic, our Gannett partner.

No word on yet on whether Neal will be eligible this season.

Brewer, a former four-star recruit who has rated No. 10 among pro-style quarterbacks by Rivals.com, announced his transfer from Texas earlier this month.

Here is the story on Brewer from Richard Obert of the Republic:

Former Scottsdale Chaparral and Texas quarterback Connor Brewer was impressed by his visit to the University of Arizona last week and is taking visits to undisclosed schools in the Southeast this week.

Brewer, who got his release from Texas, where he figured to be battling for the No.2 spot in the depth chart this season, was also looking at San Diego State, according to a source.

Brewer likely will decide this week to which school he will transfer.

He threw 100 career touchdown passes leading Chaparral to three consecutive Division II state championships, from 2009 to 2011.

If Brewer decides on UA, he will be surrounded by familiar faces. His high school coach, Charlie Ragle, is an assistant coach. Former Chaparral linebacker Cody Ippolito and wide receiver Davonte’ Neal are at UA.

Neal left Notre Dame during the spring and is enrolled at UA.
