The Arizona Wildcats received a commitment from a junior college defensive tackle, perhaps building momentum for a big recruiting weekend.
Jerod Cody, a defensive end from Glendale Community College, committed to UA on Tuesday, making him the 13th member of coach Rich Rodriguez’s recruiting class. Cody is expected to enroll at Arizona for the spring semester.
He will have three years to use two seasons of eligibility.
Cody planned to attend Division II Minnesota-Crookston out of Las Vegas Centennial High School, but ended up with the Gauchos instead. Rodriguez and his staff have been active at Glendale, signing center Steven Gurrola in February, and holding a spring scrimmage at the school in 2011.

Arizona is making a push for junior college defensive linemen, and Cody is the first such player to commit.
This weekend could go a long way to filling out RichRod’s 2014 class, helping set the course for the future. The Wildcats could host 25 or more visitors as they are ready to showcase the new Lowell-Stevens Football Facility.
Expected to be included in that group are Scottsdale Chaparral High tight end Trevor Wood; Sabino offensive lineman Andrew Mike; Salpointe Catholic receiver Kaelin Deboskie; Peoria Centennial’s offensive lineman Layth Freikh; Phoenix Mountain Pointe offensive lineman Natrell Curtis; tight end Darrell Cloy from Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; linebacker teammates Jamarde Cobb and Marquis Ware from Los Angeles Salesian High; and defensive tackle Sharif Williams from Fresno, Calif.
Committed players such as four-star recruits Cameron Denson, Nick Wilson, Rodney Carr and Naijiel Hale are expected to be on campus for visits, too, helping the coaches convince the other recruits to join the Wildcats.
