Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez has a couple of “ors” at quarterback on his first fall depth chart as the Wildcats get ready for Friday’s season-opener against NAU.

Senior B.J. Denker is listed first, followed by “or” junior Jesse Scroggins and then “or” redshirt freshman Javelle Allen.

There aren’t a whole lot of surprises on the depth chart, although there have been a few hot spots of competition that will carry into the season.

–Freshman Scooby Wright and sophomore Keoni Bush-Loo are listed as co-starters at strong-side linebacker.

–Redshirt freshman Clive Georges and true freshman Samajie Grant are co-starters at an outside receiver spot. Junior Johnny Jackson and true freshman Nate Phillips are co-starters at a slot receiver position. Lots of mixing and matching will be going on there.

–Senior Terrence Miller is listed as a starter at slot receiver and tight end, depending on the formation.

–Junior college transfer Steven Gurrola is the first-string center, followed by sophomore walk-on Carter Wood.

–In something of a surprise, senior Derrick Rainey is listed as a co-starter at a cornerback spot with incumbent starter Shaquille Richardson.

–The kicking job as listed as “or” between Jake Smith and Casey Skowron.

–Phillips is listed as the first-string punt and kick returner.
