The Arizona Wildcats got a double shot of good news Saturday night, with the commitment of Salpointe Catholic receiver Kaelin Deboskie following the 35-24 victory over Utah.

Deboskie announced his commitment via Twitter.

Deboskie is a lightning-quick three-star receiver who adds to Arizona’s impressive haul of in-state pass catchers, which includes his teammate, four-star Cameron Denson, and Scottsdale Chaparral tight end Trevor Wood. The UA also has a commitment from in-state safety J.R. Hunt from Chandler High.

Deboskie (5-9, 165) picked the Wildcats over Oklahoma State and West Virginia. He also held offers from Arizona State and Colorado.

He can fill a variety of roles, including defensive back and returner, but he has the right size, speed and shiftiness to be a slot receiver in coach Rich Rodriguez’s spread offense.

Deboskie has 32 receptions for 512 yards and 10 touchdowns for a Salpointe team that is No. 1 in Division II and is 8-0, with all the victories coming by at least 33 points.

Deboskie is in his first season at Salpointe, transferring from Heritage High in Colleyville, Texas, although he grew up in Arizona and is close friends with Denson.

Deboskie’s brother, Covaughn DeBoskie-Johnson, attended Chandler Hamilton High School and is a former running back at Cal and NAU.
