Arizona Wildcats junior Ka’Deem Carey today broke the school record for career rushing yards, surpassing Trung Canidate, who ran for 3,824 from 1996 to 1999.
Carey set the record with a 20-yard run in the third quarter vs. Oregon at Arizona Stadium, with Canidate in attendance on the sideline.
Carey has, or shares, at least 20 school records.
“It’s great having a back like Ka’Deem who do it all,” junior left tackle Mickey Baucus said earlier this week.
“He can run inside the tackles, outside sweep plays, catch the ball out of the backfield. He makes my life a whole lot easier. I’m sure he has great things coming to him in the future. It’s an honor blocking for him.”
Carey set four other school records Saturday.
With four touchdowns on the ground, he has 45 career rushing scores and 49 total touchdowns. Both marks eclipsed, by one, school records held by Art Luppino.
Carey also broke his own school mark with 48 carries — 10 more than he had vs. Utah earlier this season. And he set the mark for all-purpose plays — 49 (previous mark was 42 vs. Utah).
Here is a look at all of Carey’s school records (with thanks to the Arizona athletic department for the bulk of the research):
